Aproximada

What's that lurking in the forest?  When App Applegate began building his ship in the woods, he wasn't concerned about what people thought.  He envisioned a boat he could sail from Orcas Island to Cuba and that's all that mattered.  Working largely alone, App dedicated his time to building his 80’ barkentine sailing vessel amongst the tall trees of the Pacific Northwest.  How could he get this ship down the mountain and into the water?  As word spread, visitors began to flock to this modern day Noah's Ark.  In a sense, App’s travels had already begun.  Though never touching the water, the “Aproximada” became a symbol for man’s curiosity, perseverance and determination.
